SWFC Firewise and Fuels Reduction

Over the years, SWFC has secured over $3 million for Defensible Space and Hazardous Fuels Reduction projects. This work is made possible with funding from the Oregon Department of Forestry, Oregon State Fire Marshal, Oregon Department of Environmental Quality, and the USDA Forest Service.

South Willamette Forest Collaborative (SWFC) continues to lead the work that keeps the Greater Oakridge–Westfir area recognized as Firewise communities. Being a Firewise community helps bring attention to local wildfire risks and can also help us get funding for safety projects. To keep this Firewise status, community members need to report a minimum number of hours and money spent making their homes and yards more fire-safe.
